At 1:15 PM CDT, in the Middle of Philosophy 281:775/Ethics, Clifton D. Healy Entered . . . the Aristotle Zone

It was really weird. Nothing like it has ever happened before while I was teaching. There I was, minding my own business, wrapping up Nicomachean Ethics III.5, when something hit me. I had this idea to write on the board, for the sake of the class, a visual depiction of the process of virtue in Aristotle's EN II-III.5. And in something like the manner of Zeus and Athena, it sprang from my head full-grown. I started writing on the board, and it just . . . flowed out of my chalk holder.

When I was done, I sent the students on a break and quickly scribbled the diagram on a piece of paper. I came home last evening after work, opened up Word and in a little over an hour came up with this (or go here for the RTF format).

Wow (he sez in bewilderment). That was cool.

['Course, I am still going to have to figure out how EN VII.1-10 (and especially VII.3) fits in here, but I'm savoring this for now.]
