More on Summer Projects

In addition to my uncompleted thesis and three incomplete papers, I have some other important things to accomplish.

The papers for my directed readings this term:

  • A summation of the views of De Anima 3.5
  • A paper on Sextus Empiricus (still to be determined)

I also need to do some linguistic work:

  • review my classical Greek, including reading some Xenophon, Plato and Aristotle
  • review my Latin, including reading some Caesar
  • review my German, including reading some short story collections I have

I'd also like to read some or all of the following:

  • Aristotle, Metaphysics (reread)
  • Aristotle, De Anima (reread)
  • Plato, Timaeus (reread)
  • Carlo Natali, The Wisdom of Aristotle
  • Julia Annas, The Morality of Happiness
  • Martha Nussbaum, The Fragility of Goodness
  • Giovanni Reale, Toward a New Interpretation of Plato
  • Leslie Stevenson and David Haberman, Ten Theories of Human Nature
  • Thucydides, The Peloponnesian War
  • Russell Kirk, The Conservative Mind

And you are planning to breathe, when?

Oooh...when you finish your "Hegel and Absolute Spirit" paper, I'd love to read it. I was exploring that some last summer in the context of Wagner's aesthetic of gesamtkunstwerk. And learned, through the process, how little I understand Hegel...
