Today didn't go exactly as planned. I've been slowed down a bit by computer issues. My primary hard drive had a minor heart attack. I defibrillated and now it's struggling to stay alive long enough to carry out its mission. To my surprise, it still has a month left on its warranty through Western Digital. They're cross-shipping a replacement. Whew!
In the meantime, I engaged in hand-to-hand combat with Office XP. In an effort to clean up, I deleted some stuff I thought I didn't need, which prompted all the Office products to run the installer program when starting, accessing help, sending email, or simply sitting idle for a few minutes. I can only conclude that Microsoft hates me. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced my Office CD's, and M$ won't ship a replacement without physical evidence of the purchase. I did some surgery in the registry and now they start up OK, although the installer program still flashes its ugly mug for moment at startup.
Tomorrow will be better.
In other news, Weird Al's parents died of carbon monoxide poisoning. They may have been elderly, but that's gotta hurt. Coping with the deaths of loved ones is one thing for which money and fame are worthless.
