Dumb

The roads have been slippery for several weeks. I enjoy that, too much, but today it cost me. While fishtailing down an empty road I pushed it a wee bit too far and couldn't regain control. Even as I started to spin I wasn't worried, guesstimating my trajectory would leave me slightly off the road, but unscathed. It was apparently slicker than I realized, however, and I was brought to rest abruptly, courtesy of a small tree. Although still drivable, the car suffered a broken nose, and I can't afford plastic surgery. Why do I go and kick myself like this?

On the plus side, I'll be house sitting for the next few days and they have a hottub. Bonus.

This is some of the most beautiful word painting I've read in a while. And so I sit here writing, like the opposite of a hug.

Yes, pretty words, but a not so pretty car now. Ah... the things we do... Don't worry. I used to do things like that. Except I slid into an embankment on the side of the road and broke the bead on my tire. As well as end up in the headlights of oncoming traffic. But I was okay and the car lived a longer life to die with a dead engine about a year later.

some of my last childhood memories of you are being freaked out by your crazy driving thru the back roads...
