Busy, busy

Here's a short list of things going on in my life and filling my RAM/short-term memory/noggin at any given moment:

Doctoral classes - crazy assignments that I made up myself (curriculum workshop, self-guided CD-ROM for teachers), plus official assignments (scholarly journal article, integrated, thematic curriculum)
Dissertation woes - should I change my focus to interactive television and literacy from just children's TV and literacy?
Filmmaking Workshops - how to reach the cool, "arty" kids without being "lame"
Bible Class - 1 Timothy, Galatians, Ephesians, oh my!
Work stuff - enormous to-do list that never gets smaller
Work stuff - mentoring kids from Howard High
Work stuff - student TV programs, they're great and the kids learn a lot, but they stretch me pretty thin sometimes
Adjunct teaching - staying on schedule and creating "teachable" moments and self-discovery projects
Church - Community Giveaway Day
My wife's mental health
My son's discipline problems
My own sense of being able to get these things done.

Not necessarily in any order, but these are just the things I need to be thinking about. I WANT to be thinking about working with Inner-City Outreach again, working with the hispanic church, producing a documentary on latinos in Chatt-town, a children's TV show, and a landscaping show.

Hard to sleep at night with any of these things consuming me..

I've always resisted the whole "responsible" thing, thinking it was just a phase that would quickly pass, like tight rolled jeans or Billy Idol haircuts. Well, apparently it's still "in" to be responsible. I suggest sitting down and prioritizing. It sounds awful, but it actually works! It seems like some of those things are clearly more important to be taking care of right now, to reap some long-term rewards. Others you might could put off for a while or shove onto someone else while you do more important things. That's my 2 fen's worth.
